Don’t Wait for Spring, Start it Now | Change Energy

We were all pleased to see the launch of Canada’s Green Freight Assessment Program (GFAP) earlier this year. Through the program, operators gained access to up to $10,000 to review their operations and determine where the best opportunities lie for efficiency improvements. Even better, successful applicants could possibly access additional funding to help finance and implement the changes that their assessment recommends.

That was the good news. The news that wasn’t so good was that the deadline for applications was the end of June. That may have been enough time for putting an application together for some freight greening measures, but it was a rather short fuse for others.

Good news again! GFAP will be back for another round of applications next spring (2019). But before you think that’s a long way off, think again. It depends on what kind of measure you might be contemplating to improve the efficiency and sustainability of your operations.

It is well known that one of the most compelling greening (and cost saving!) measures can be switching from diesel fuel to an alternative fuel like natural gas or electric. As a first step though, you need to determine whether your operation has the characteristics to be a viable candidate for such a conversion. Additionally, you need a certain level of internal ‘buy-in’ across different functions and levels in your organization. This upfront effort usually takes some time.

Viewing our website you can see that Change Energy has a long-standing reputation in delivering alternative fuelling assessments for fleet operators of all sizes. This reputation is largely built on our commitment to be technology and fuel neutral. In other words, we don’t sell the equipment or the fuel, we just deliver unbiased advice and realistic numbers on whether a potential solution makes business sense. And if so, what the optimal system design would look like.

Now is the time to learn more at Green Freight Assessment Program. A high-level discussion with us can also help ensure that, when Spring 2019 comes, you will be ready.
