Infrastructure Planning

Infrastructure planning starts with identifying the necessary requirements a client must consider when transitioning to alternative fuel solutions or adopting and implementing a business innovation.

We take a systems approach in assessing the context, scope and ambitions of our client’s fuel transition. We help our clients understand the landscape as they move to the low carbon economy.

Business Case Assessment & Fuel Value Index

An example of Change Energy’s commitment to commercial success in alternative fuels, the Fuel Value Index (FVI) comprises a proprietary model used to objectively evaluate the overall value proposition of alternative fuels in a variety of applications and locations.

The FVI is a high-level tool that helps us understand the set of possible solutions. Once an opportunity has been identified, we help our clients to develop and articulate their business case for transitioning to an alternative fuel . We take a holistic approach to consider the organizations environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors that take into account: cost structures, returns on investments, lifecycle costs, greenhouse gas emissions and societal impacts.

We help our clients move from the conceptual to the actionable.

Risk Assessment

Risk = Probability X Consequence

Our risk analyses include people, procedures, hardware, environment, and cost issues set within the framework of an integrated management system over the life cycle of our clients' energy system designs.  We determine if the system provides a safe environment for employees, the public, and capital assets.

Our reports provide management with a prioritized list of actions based on qualified and quantified risk. If undertaken, our recommendations can lead to measurable benefits such as reduced lost-time injuries, improved system up-time, and reduced insurance premiums.

Approvals

We work with municipal, provincial, state, federal and international regulatory agencies to achieve full compliance with all applicable regulations, codes, and standards.

Where an established approvals pathway is not available, due to a novel use of technology or solution, we draw on our extensive experience to anticipate the requirements of an assessment process, proactively engage the appropriate authorities having jurisdiction, and facilitate resolutions that enable innovative projects to advance.

Regulations, Codes, & Standards Development

Change Energy is an active member of several committees of the CSA (and other standards development organizations), working with them on the development of codes and standards for the alternative fuels industry. This puts Change Energy in the optimal position to provide advice on compliance with the emerging regulatory landscape. Change Energy is also experienced in developing internal codes, standards, and best practices for clients that want to align their project with a larger organizational mandate.

Compliance with codes, standards and regulations can be complex, requiring care and attention to detail. We work with all of the authorities having jurisdiction to ensure a clear line-of-sight to approval of our clients’ projects.
